CAYC 2026 Annual General Meeting
Keynote:
Down to Earth: Sharing Soil Sensibilities and Prairie Pedagogies from Winipêk Katya will share her research into public places, including her own driveway, national historic sites and landmarks, forts, commemorative, places, museums, concrete cul-de-sacs, and places connected through the flow of water stories. Katya considers her research and how she has engaged with soilwork, walking, and re-storying as an a/r/tographer (artist/researcher/teacher) but also as a mother of two young children.
She will share images, insights, and learning stories that came through creating earth-based art installations alongside her children and how the arts can engage both young children and adults with complex topics, deepen understandings of the groundwork that needs to happen in schools, and to renew the commitments and relationships to Land.
