About the Award

Friends of Children Award Description:

The Friends of Children Award honours individuals or groups who have shown outstanding contributions to the mission statement and aims of the Canadian Association for Young Children (CAYC). This may be demonstrated by enhancing the well-being of children through outstanding scholarly, innovative and/or practical contributions, or work with children and their families.

Nomination Procedure:

To nominate an individual or group, please follow this procedure:

1) With consent from the nominee, the nominator will provide a letter of nomination that includes background information about the nominee such as relevant education, employment, and/or volunteer work. If the nominee is a group, then the letter should provide some background information of the group, their website, and main contact person. The letter must also provide information about the nominee’s contributions, specifically describing why and how they enhance the well-being of children.

2) The letter of nomination(s) must be sent to the Friends of Children National Director, Peggie Olson (cp.olson@sasktel.net) who will review the letter of nomination to ensure all the details are included and then will share the nomination with the CAYC National Board for their review and assessment.

3) The nomination will be judged against the award description and voted on for approval by the CAYC National Board of Directors.

4) The nominator will be responsible (once nomination is approved) for submitting a 500 word summary of the nominee for posting on the website through the CAYC Journal of Childhood Studies.
